Position Overview:

Verra Mobility is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure end-to-end quality of modern cloud-based and legacy enterprise applications through a combination of test design, manual testing, exploratory testing, and automated testing.  The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, TypeScript, C#, API testing, microservices testing, and micro frontends testing. This role requires the ability to analyze requirements, design comprehensive test scenarios and test cases, determine what should be automated versus manually tested, execute hands-on testing when appropriate, leverage AI-assisted testing/code-generation tools, and mentor other testers.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Analyze business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, technical designs, and system integrations to identify test scenarios, risks, dependencies, and coverage needs.
• Create and maintain comprehensive test scenarios, test cases, test data, traceability, and regression test suites covering positive, negative, boundary, exception, integration, and end-to-end business scenarios.
• Perform hands-on functional, exploratory, integration, regression, end-to-end, and production-validation testing where manual testing provides appropriate value.
• Partner with Product Managers, Tech Leads, Developers, Architects, and QA team members early in the SDLC to understand requirements, acceptance criteria, architecture, integrations, risks, and testability.
• Determine the appropriate testing approach for each capability, including what should be automated, what should remain manual, and the appropriate testing layer.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated UI, API, integration, and end-to-end tests using Playwright, Selenium, TypeScript, and related technologies.
• Build reusable, scalable, and maintainable automation frameworks, components, fixtures, utilities, and test-data capabilities using sound software engineering principles.
• Test modern applications built with React, micro frontends, C#/.NET APIs, microservices, and cloud technologies, as well as legacy applications built with .NET Framework and ASP.NET.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and establish appropriate quality gates and automated feedback during development and deployment.
• Design automation that supports parallel execution, cross-browser testing, test-data management, environment configuration, retries where appropriate, and reliable unattended execution.
• Analyze escaped production defects and recurring issues to identify requirements gaps, test coverage gaps, automation opportunities, and preventive improvements.
• Effectively use generative AI/code-generation tools for requirement analysis, test scenario/test-case generation, automation development, test-data generation, debugging, defect analysis, documentation, and automation code review, while validating AI-generated outputs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of software testing/quality engineering experience, including significant hands-on automation experience.
• Proven ability to independently analyze requirements and create comprehensive, high-quality test scenarios and test cases.
• Strong hands-on experience performing both manual/exploratory testing and automated testing.
• Experience testing modern applications involving React, APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud technologies.
• Excellent communication (written & verbal), knowledge sharing, analytical, debugging, problem-solving, collaboration, and ownership skills.
• Experience within team environments and Agile project methodologies is a must.

Technical Expertise:

• Strong hands-on expertise with Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, TypeScript/JavaScript, reusable automation frameworks, test fixtures, assertions, test-data management, parallel execution, and cross-browser testing.
• Strong ability to analyze requirements and independently create and execute functional, exploratory, regression, integration, negative, boundary, exception, and end-to-end test scenarios and test cases.
• Strong experience testing REST APIs, JSON/HTTP services, microservices, backend integrations, databases, and asynchronous/event-driven workflows.
• Working knowledge of C#, .NET/.NET Core, ASP.NET Core, React, microservices, micro frontends, REST APIs, and legacy .NET Framework/ASP.NET applications.
• Strong SQL/SQL Server skills for test-data preparation, backend validation, reconciliation, and defect investigation.
• Ability to develop maintainable automation using SOLID principles, object-oriented concepts, separation of concerns, reusable components, clean code, and appropriate design patterns.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, and CI/CD technologies such as Azure DevOps, including automated execution, pipelines, environments, reporting, logging, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of risk-based testing, test pyramid, shift-left testing, regression strategy, defect management, root-cause analysis, traceability, test coverage, release readiness, and continuous quality improvement.
• Strong ability to leverage generative AI tools to accelerate requirement analysis, test design, automation development, test-data generation, debugging, code review, and documentation without compromising engineering judgment or quality.
