Position Overview:

Verra Mobility is hiring a full-time Senior Accountant reporting to the Accounting Manager for its Commercial Services business unit. The Senior Accountant provides support and execution of General Ledger accounting Activities. Key activities are month-end close accounting, ownership of procedures and internal controls. The role will be critical for improving existing accounting processes and leading change by helping drive business results and solve business improvement opportunities impacting both the income statement and the balance sheet. This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Complete month-end close procedures within prescribed time frames in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Take ownership of specific balance sheet and P&L accounts including understanding the end-to-end processes.
  • Prepare journal entries and roll-forward schedules having a critical mindset of “why” to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, prepare and maintain supporting schedules and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Ensure the company financial records, under responsibility, are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP.
  • Assist in reviewing financial statements and performing fluctuation analyses of the balance sheet and income statement.
  • Streamline processes and create a strong control environment from which to be ready to grow.
  • Assist in the implementation of new Oracle Fusion ERP system.
  • Work cross-functionally and assist with ad hoc projects with key stakeholders and other team member.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (CPA a plus).
  • Minimum of 4 years of diverse general ledger accounting experience that includes journal entry preparation, and account reconciliations across various categories.
  • Detail-oriented, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with focus on understanding operations.
  • Proven work history showing ability to solve problems with limited information.
  • Proactive and self-motivated accounting professional with the ability to think critically.
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory and knowledge of GAAP.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to effectively manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check, including verification of past employment, criminal history, educational background, or credit history.
